Recently, I have been thinking about changing my major from Mathematics to Psychology. However, I’m a bit scared of changing to Psychology as well. One of my housemates is doing her PhD in Educational Psychology. She is a sincere and friendly girl but she goes through depression quite a lot. She told me that she doesn’t seem to understand why some people behave in a way which she feels is inconsiderate and such. While her example is one of the reasons for my anxiety in changing to Psychology, the other is my recent experience in analysing people.
One of the issues I’ve been thinking about lately is relationships. The topic on relationships will demand one or more posts by itself! The point to note here is that thinking about relationships led me to analyse different people and their characteristics. Trust me, it’s a pain doing this! I thought Psychology might suit me due to my recent discovery of my natural ability and interest to think about people and their behaviour. However, I’m also not sure if it would be a good idea judging from my housemate’s and my experiences. It has really set me wondering if subjects like Psychology and Sociology where one studies a variety of people related issues in depth will also give him/her pain. But then again, I thank God for giving me certain experiences that have made me realise that some things are beyond our understanding.
