When you walk down the street or look through your window, you might see many young couples holding hands and romantically walking together. You know they’re most likely in a relationship. You will also see a few walking by themselves and may think they’re not in a relationship. We wouldn’t know for sure if those walking alone are single or not. But even if they’re not in a relationship, it doesn’t mean they’re not in love. This is one thought that struck me some days back. They may be in love with someone but just that they might not have expressed it yet or it’s one-sided or something like that.
And likewise just because someone is in a relationship, it doesn’t mean he/she is in love. Well, I feel, it should actually mean if you’re in a relationship that you’re in love with that person. But in reality I don’t think it’s like that from what I’ve seen, at least in most cases. A lot of people seem to get into a relationship for reasons other than love.
Whatever it is, I guess we just have to be careful and not assume things by what we see at the skin level.

ReplyDeleteI read all three posts at one go. I too used to think that counselling and analyzing people was a job suited to me. However, I was told that a psychologist ought not to take the problems that they analyze to their hearts. I suppose they are correct but in that case I may not be the best counsellor tho' i do indulge in a bit of it in my blog.
ReplyDeleteAs for relationships there are several levels to it and love is the ultimate level. So while relationships do not automatically indicate love, the opposite that love is inclusive of a relationship cannot be denied. Nice post,set me thinking.
Thank you Hip Grandma. I didn't know that psychologists shouldn't take the problems they analyse to their hearts. Thanks a lot for informing me. With respect to the relationships issue, I think it also depends on how one defines love.
